Macha Field Study Collaboration

This project demonstrates the collaboration among researchers across varying disciplines conducting research on the prevention and control of Malaria in Macha, Zambia. Details of the JHRMI field site in Macha are reached at http://malaria.jhsph.edu/.All field data are geographically tagged and mapped. Collected field data are transferred via the internet and imported into a central database. This database provides the capability to query across data collected by different principal investigators. Field collection activity and results are posted via a web-based system to an ‘electronic wallmap’. Quickbird™ imagery is used to map physical features across the study area and helps researchers plan their field study locations. Field data and activity are overlaied onto the high resolution imagery to help researchers coordinate their studies and utilize existing previously-collected data.

Basic queries concerning the types of studies, the investigators and the general locations of the studies can be performed from the web site.  More specific and detailed information that involve collaboration with the investigators may be obtained by contacting the PI’s directly
